Have you ever thought of a helmet who would tell its retirement time? Most Helmets made with a liner material called expanded polystyrene protect your head during a ski accident, but need to replaced after the first major impact. But POC has introduced a new Skull Orbic H.I. MIPS helmet can actually tell you when it’s time to buy a new one.
The helmet liners made from expanded polypropylene can endure multiple impacts before needing a replacement. A system of stress-strain sensors located all over the helmet measure the amount of deformation that occurs as a result of an impact. These measurements are stored and when the severity and history of impacts surpasses a recommended level, a red light will let the user that its time to replace. The company has priced the helmets for around $480. Now, its upto you to buy a cheaper helmets or go for the costlier ones.
